I am a current coachee of Karen Muggleton. I have benefitted enormously from Karen’s coaching, wisdom and support. Being self-employed can be a very lonely existence but in working with Karen I feel that I always have someone on my side.

Karen’s coaching is built not just on some outstanding qualifications and experience but much more importantly on being able to readily connect with people. I think she is able to do this by asking lots of great questions which leads to a deep understanding of their needs and wants. In addition, I feel that Karen is able to empathise with people because of her own life and career experiences.

Each coaching session (they always start and end on time which is so important for busy professionals) begins with the question “what do you want to get out of this session?” So many coaches “tell” rather than “ask”. Not Karen. This simple question not just respects what I as a coachee want (rather than what Karen thinks I might want to discuss), but it also really focuses my brain on maximising our coaching time together.

Uppermost in Karen’s coaching style is ensuring that individuals are performing at their optimal level by developing in them a strong sense of wellbeing. Karen uses a number of simple but highly effective tools to do this including mindfulness and gratitudes. Each technique has science behind it and a very practical application.

Karen keeps me accountable, has coached me to achieve some encouraging results and is never too busy for me to bounce ideas off her in between sessions.

Karen’s coaching has been one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had. It has not only benefitted myself, but also my team, peers, managers and family. I have a greater understanding of myself now because of it. I have learnt when I function best and how important it is to look after myself. This has allowed me to have more energy to do great things, more clarity to make sound decisions and more confidence to inspire and lead my team.

One of the greatest successes I’ve seen within my department is the positive impact Karen’s coaching has had on improving the relationships within my team. This resulted in more open communication and team work which has created greater efficiencies and a harmonious working environment. What I like most about Karen’s approach is she lays down the foundation to get things started, then provides you with the tools to self-manage, but always makes times to answer any questions along the way.

The Leadership coaching that I have received through Karen has been of tremendous benefit to both myself personally and for the organisation. It has taught me to think outside my normal way of processing and to look at the bigger picture. This has given me the skills to approach situations in a more effective manner by managing my own personal well-being both mentally and physically. I feel more focussed on my tasks and more goal driven than I have ever been before. I have also noticed a significant improvement in fellow managers who have also received this training, with them being not only more effective in their daily tasks, but in their management style with their respective teams. The department teams in the organisation are interacting more effectively and the managers have come together more as a team rather than individual managers. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough.
